The newly wealthy middle class of the late 1800's and early 1900's chose in particular those genre paintings that depicted scenes of beautifully dressed young children with their pets in playful settings and this is exactly what Arthur John Elsley gave them. The paintings proved so popular that many were reproduced as prints, and others were often used in calendars, adverts, books and magazines. Here is Arthur J. Lesley's, Love at First Sight, painted in 1907, measuring 33" x 26", framed with a double matte.
